The textural look of this striking binding by Lee Rolph, has been achieved by the use of inlaid fish-skins in the colours to be found along a shoreline. The edges of the book have been painted in similar rich colours.

Sarah Burnett-Moore has responded to the challenge by simply sewing the textblock, rolling it up and placing inside a drum in ,much the same way that old charts were stored.

Also suggesting the idea of a message in a bottle, this container in the Japanese inro style, is decorated with a beautiful goldwork embroidery of a red herring on a piece of silk. The final touch is a naval lanyard forming its handle.
